Art Statement 2025

Rosemarie Gleiser Blufstein is a Latin American interdisciplinary artist and writer based in New York. Her work navigates the intersections of identity, memory, myth, migration, food, and feminism, using drawing, printmaking, photography, and storytelling as core modes of expression.

Rooted both in personal and cultural history, her practice constructs poetic spaces where tradition and contemporary life meet, often through the body, domestic rituals, and diasporic language.

Born in Lima, Peru, to a family of Eastern European Jewish origin, Gleiser’s work is shaped by her transnational lineage. Her latest project, “Let me tell you something,” is a bilingual illustrated memoir that traces her family's journey from pre-WWII Romania to Latin America, interweaving recipes, Yiddish expressions, and digital communication into a vibrant portrait of Jewish diaspora and cultural resilience.
