IMPOSSIBLE BIRDS, 2025

This series explores migration through human hair drawn on photographs of skin at 5 x 7 inches and 6 x 8 inches.

Skin becomes landscape, hair becomes pigment, mapping the territories of memory and movement we carry within ourselves.

Each impossible bird emerges from the intersection of identity and journey, embodying the hybrid nature of migrant experience, creatures that can walk, run backwards, fly, swim, and float through the underwater landscapes of consciousness, carrying the dreams of crossing borders both real and imagined.

“Thoughts become hair, become feathers.
Skin transforms to sky and sea.
Dreams learn how to fly”.
— Rosemarie Gleiser
